A Sketch for a Wilderness
Whist living in Edinburgh in 1999 – 2001, I made this
portrait of the meeting point of a number of communal gardens shared by
different tenement apartment blocks in Marchmont. Though hardly Rannoch Moor or the Jotunheimen, which exist for much of the time in my imagination –
this attempts, to paraphrase Wittgenstein – to
reach right out to it.
